30 Day Challenge: The Perfect Man?

4. Describe your ideal partner

Two romantic questions back to back. My self-esteem has never been higher.

But seriously, this is actually kind of hard because one thing I’ve learned over the years is that what I want in a partner changes as I grow up. As a fairly mature individual, my ideal man is kind of hard to narrow down to a list of traits but for the benefit of this prompt, I’m going to try.

Let’s start with the easy stuff, shall we? Physical attributes.

According to a study mentioned in this article by Forbes, it only takes 7 seconds to make a first impression. In that short time, there are four things I immediately notice about a man: eyes, smile, height, and shoulders. A man who does not have kind eyes or a kind smile is pretty much an immediate no for me. I also love tall men. They don’t have to be basketball players but I’d rather them be significantly taller than my 5’5. I also really really really love broad shoulders. A man’s shoulders and arms are probably the sexiest part of their bodies, in my opinion.

Those are really the only things I usually find in common with all of the men to whom I’ve been attracted. I have preferences though, of course. I prefer dark hair and light eyes. I like scruff but full-on-bears aren’t really my cup of tea. I prefer older men, usually at least 3 or more years older than I am. I also prefer bigger men but that has more to do with me being a plus sized girl and needing to not feel like I’m going to break them. Haha.

As for the harder stuff, the personality stuff… well, that’s a bit more complicated. I want someone who has a similar sense of humor because I can be pretty offensive to some people. I’m not a very religious person and I’d rather not be forced to change that unless I want to change. I love books and movies and I really love to learn and a big dating deal breaker is if he doesn’t understand that love or mocks me for it. Ideally, he’d have a similar passion for those things so we could talk about them and share our opinions, even if they’re different ones. I’m a cat person and I’d prefer him to be as well. I want to travel one day and I’ve love if he’d do it with me.

I guess, in the end, it comes down to one thing though: my ideal man needs to accept me and all my quirks. A similar personality wouldn’t hurt but not TOO similar. And hey, if he happens to look like Dylan O’Brien or Brad Pitt during the Jennifer Aniston days, I’m not going to complain.
